Life in Obamastan

What if the free United States of America and freedom loving individuals stopped participating in the independence and prosperity destroying policies forced on them by the federal government? What if we told Washington that we intend to abide by the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution whether they like it or not. If we do not want to buy an Obamacare insurance plan, we will not. If we do not accept industry crushing regulations, we will not implement them. If we want to break out into spontaneous prayer and acknowledge God whether at a sporting event, in the schoolhouse or in legislative halls around the country, we will. Jail us for it. The jails need prayer too. On the upside, you can create prison guard jobs.

Maybe to start 2011, we need an American collective Rosa Parks moment. We are tired of being ignored, so we are not going to do it your way anymore. Period.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The 10th Amendment is a very short one. Like the rest of our Constitution, it is very unlike those Reid Pelosi two thousand page liberty crushing monstrosities. And remember the wisdom of San Fran Nan. We must first pass them into law so we can then learn what they do to us. What does this red button do? How have we survived and prospered for so many years without the wisdom of Nan?

Do you know what differentiates the United States of America from the third world mud holes? The places Americans might never hear about if our young warriors were not sacrificed in them for nation building endeavors politically disguised as wars? The difference between us and them is that we have, for now, a world class middle class. Correct that, not A but The World Class Middle Class.

The liberal mind is a marvel. It is a mind that wraps itself around wars on capitalist greed and every heart wrenching story of despair attributed to it. Liberal cheering for this gang of freedom killing wealthy, progressive/communists currently running our country will continue right up until the day when harsh reality shows them that the war was not on the rich capitalist dogs at all. It was on them, at least those among them who are part of the middle class. By the time they understand that they were only collateral damage in the progressive war on the middle class, the rest of us will have to feed them. Well the remainder of them anyway.

What are we, including our misguided liberal brethren, getting in return for all of the hope and change fairy dust that us sprinkled upon us by a manufactured man and his adoring sycophantic media?

We are getting a utopian life in Obamastan.

In Obamastan, the very wealthy will always be very wealthy. Whatever they do to help us down-trodden, like provide Obamacare, will have no impact on their lives – none whatsoever. They will never have to concern themselves with government wrecked health care nor being too old to get life sustaining medical treatment. They will always be able to buy the world’s best private health care.

Their world view requires destitute peasants who are dependent on and beholden to them. To achieve this, they must destroy America’s world class and independent minded middle class. After which George Soros, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates can hold hands and proclaim that they have finally achieved benevolent global governance. Ahhh a utopian world led by Obamastan, the former free republic of the United States of America.

The Environmental Protection Agency wing of the new communist party, in the name of earth worship, is also hell-bent on destroying our middle class. With all of their hard work, who knows, maybe I can stop shoveling the global warming out of my driveway.

A moratorium on oil drilling? Who do you think $5.00 gas is going to hurt? John Kerry? The private jets of the wealthy will still be zipping around. Our world class middle class, who will not be able to afford private transportation will have to move back to Detroit and the other wonderful liberal controlled ghettos from which freedom and prosperity allowed them to escape. Or, trade their freedom of movement in for a high-speed Obamarail pass.

Want another little taste of the future in Obamastan brought to you courtesy of EPA regulation? Have you noticed your electric bills creeping up? Remember, his highness told us that under his plan our rates would necessarily quadruple. Coal keeps the lights on in most of this country, take a minute or two and educate yourself about Obamastan’s war on coal, energy in general and industry. This is an important issue for Americans, especially in the regions of our country that depend on the coal industry for survival – like here in Wild and Wonderful.

For another little peek into the future visit Ashland, Kentucky located in the tri-state border area with West Virginia and Ohio. AK Steel has a coke plant there. Coke is produced from coal and is used to fire the company’s blast furnaces. It will close permanently in 2011. EPA regulations make the plant too expensive to upgrade and operate. It will cost directly 263 jobs and affect around 300 more contract jobs. The economy will take a hit and the city of Ashland will take a direct one too. Ashland will lose around $500,000 in payroll taxes and its largest water and sewer customer. Those costs will be transferred.

Hey Sarah! I can see Obamastan from my front porch. Happy New Year.

The Birth of Jesus

Luke 2

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

Jesus Presented in the Temple

When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”), and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”

The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”

There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.

Consequences Intended or Not

Whenever special interest driven politicians force social engineering on Americans and their Armed Forces, there are always consequences.

The premise is that all homosexuals want to be known primarily by their sexual identity. If this is true why did a college kid commit suicide when his homosexuality, obviously against his desire, was made public? I am asking because the popular meme is that every homosexual is eager to share his or her private sexual identity with the remainder of the world and treat it as his or her primary attribute. That may not be so, but it will be the consequence of this particular endeavor into social engineering.

If you accept that premise then your indoctrination is complete. The only people you cannot tolerate are the Christian fanatics who still believe in something with a foundation infinitely more solid than moral relativism.

Has anyone given even a modicum of thought about the feelings of homosexuals who are serving and are doing so because they want to be identified as Soldiers first before they are identified as being homosexuals? How many of them will end up like the college kid from Rutgers because people like Congressman Barney Frank insists that we accept a person because of their sexual orientation before we accept them as anything else?

Might I ask you? Do you want your spouse to post on Facebook or stand on your front lawn and lay out the details of your private sex life to everyone who passes by whether they care a whit to know about it or not and regardless of your feelings on the matter?

Is sexual orientation now going to be our most important identifying characteristic – for Soldiers or anyone? Superseding even race, ethnicity and gender – another hyphen preceding our already hyphenated identities? If it is, then the fallacy that repealing the law is actually about service is clearly exposed. Is it not?

I read the discussion forums frequented by Army Noncommissioned Officers. There is no overwhelming number either for or against open homosexual service. Most of them are firm in what they believe. That is what I expect of Army NCOs. Stand up for what you believe. But support what you believe with what you know, not what you think you know or how you feel. Do some critical thinking about this issue that takes you below the red herrings of service and rampant homophobia.

I read in those forums that homosexuals have always served and we all know who they are. Do you know any? Can you name them? What difference does it make now if you point them out to the rest of us who are not perceptive enough to identify homosexuals on sight?

In all of my time in the Army, including 4 years as a Unit First Sergeant and 6 years as a Command Sergeant Major, I saw many more trained and qualified Soldiers separated for being overweight than for being homosexual. Not all of them wanted to leave the service either. Why were they separated? It was certainly not because of their performance. Many of them worked much harder than the pencil-necked headquarters policy wonks just to prove that they were worth keeping. They were separated because they did not fit into someone’s idea of what a Soldier should look like. Their sin was having more than the allowable amount of body fat. Often only a little more. There are dogonned few jobs in the Army that require thin bodies.

I am not too concerned about the troops themselves, only their safety. They will fulfill their obligations and do what is asked of them. American Soldiers are renowned for their ability to adapt to their situation, but how many of them will remain at the end of their obligation?

I am more concerned about the leadership. I know a tad about military leaders. They want the led to view them as Soldiers and leaders first and not as something else. They do not want the deadly possibility that Soldiers might lose even a little bit of trust in them because they may be distracted by the leader’s homosexuality. When there are any chinks in the armor of trust that an Army leader wears, he or she becomes less effective and subsequently a more deadly leader. It is just a matter of fact.

The other thing we are told is that thousands now serving in the military will no longer have to live a lie. You would think by the talk and discussions that our military forces are overwhelmingly homosexual. Pardon me if I am just a bit skeptical of that presumption.

The remainder of the military, comprising many more thousands and including the leadership who do not accept homosexuality as normal behavior, will now most certainly have to choose to live a lie about who they are by pretending that they do accept it. That is more dangerous to any military unit than outright and overt opposition. Or they can be true to what they believe and hold dear, as has been pounded into the heads of American Soldiers for generations, salute and quietly leave for a place where they are not forced to accept as moral something they firmly believe is immoral.

If I heard it once, I heard it a hundred of times. The Army recruits Soldiers, it retains families. This is unquestionably true. More than half of our Soldiers, at least the last time I looked, are married. The number of married Soldiers has steadily increased since we became an all-volunteer force in the 70’s. This reflects a career, professional, and volunteer force. That is one reason we are for now the world’s best. How many of those career families that provide the most professional leadership of any military force in the history of the world will now exit at the first opportunity?

The Commander in Chief, his Congress, the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have established their legacies. Let us see how history records them. Maybe we will be the next dusty volume in the historical collection of the rise and fall of great nations. Maybe that is the consequence, intended or not.

Our Moral Fabric

I believe America’s is a bit tattered.

Considering the road our nation is traveling, the law commonly mislabeled as “Don’t ask Don’t Tell”, will likely be repealed. The smart guys and gals in Washington believe that is the thing to do. Many of them, calling themselves political conservatives have stated that maybe we should just let these “social” issues go and focus on other more important things. I believe there are no things more important.

The moral fabric is what holds everything else together. For many years, the concerted effort has been to unravel our country’s thread by thread. Commencing with removing God from the public square and murdering unborn children to the veritable destruction of the traditional family unit it is only logical that our country’s most respected and trusted institution, our Armed Forces, be a major stepping stone toward turning America into New Amsterdam.

I hope those serving in or leading our armed forces who are championing repeal of the law that states that homosexuality is not compatible with military service understand that this is not about military service just as homosexual marriage is not about marriage. It is about declaring as a nation that homosexuality is normal behavior and that homosexuals should have protected status under law as a minority class. That is what it is about, period. So, when the law is repealed, do not expect legions of homosexuals to overwhelm military recruiting stations.

I know that there are homosexuals serving now. The impression one gets from the party line, however, is that military units are literally filled with homosexuals just waiting to come out of the closet. I expect the number is not that great. I also expect that the majority of those who are serving are not the in your face radicals who are pushing this issue and prefer to keep their lives, including their sexual proclivities, private as do most people.

When this law is repealed, understand that our Armed Forces do not move in half-steps. When homosexuals are given minority status by law, expect the military to lead the way with homosexual affirmative action, annual homosexual –American history and culture celebrations and recognition of homosexual partners as military dependents. Of course all of the endless government forms, where one must declare his race and gender, will need modification. I do not know how that will work. If sexual orientation is to become ones identity, do we make it a new race or do we create a third sex or do we just replace gender identification with sexual orientation? Would we include a block for pedophilia? Is that not also a sexual orientation?

Without checking too hard, I can assure you that since 1993 when this law was passed the military has separated more fully trained, qualified and productive Soldiers for being overweight (and in case you are curious, overweight by military standards would probably be a svelte civilian) than for being homosexual. The people inside the service who are cheering for homosexual service do not hesitate to chase away overweight Soldiers many of whom want to remain in service. They are dishonest if they do not admit to that truth. Of course there is a new war on our nation’s immoral fat people. Fat is just not acceptable. So as service in the military becomes a new right by law, will we recall all of these fully qualified and trained Soldiers who were separated against their will for being overweight?

There is another issue here that bugs the living daylights out of me. It is the red herring of integrity. The argument is that homosexuals must lie about who they are in order to serve. Are you not curious about why the policy is dubbed “don’t ask”? A person does not have to declare his or her sexual orientation on entry into the military just as no one has to declare his or her preferred form of sexual activity. And who in the heck wants to in the first place? Will that not have to necessarily change?

There is an integrity issue here though that is bigger than keeping ones sexual preference private. It will impact military leadership more than it will impact the troops. Military leaders who do not believe that homosexuality is morally acceptable behavior will be asked to abandon what they believe and pretend that they do accept it. Some will put up a politically correct façade and pretend. Some will not.

Military leaders who actually live by the strongly professed values that comprise their code of honor, which includes integrity above all else and candor, will lose their careers for having the courage to stand by their personal moral convictions and telling homosexuals that they cannot accept their behavior as moral. The military will lose good leaders.

To reiterate, repealing this law is not about service. Like marriage, it is about taking down the institution.

We need to end all of the phony baloney hooey and get right down to the brass tacks of this issue. Are the people of this country ready to accept laws making homosexuals the country’s new minority protected class? That is the goal by the way. Man’s law condones a lot of things these days like murdering unborn babies, but man’s laws cannot change what I or anyone believes, thinks or accepts as moral.

Passage of the measure may also spur broader debate about issues like gay marriage rights. Kate Kendell, the executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, said debate over the military policy “ignited a national conversation not just about the ability of lesbians and gay men to be good soldiers, but about the underpinnings of all sorts of government-sanctioned discrimination,” she said. Wall Street Journal

A phobia is a fear or an irrational dislike of something or someone, if you can believe the dictionary. Consider, however, that some of the same people who wrote our public school history text books may have compiled the dictionary. I do not fear the word phobia, but I do believe that I have developed a rational dislike for it. Much like I developed a dislike for the ist suffix as in racist and sexist. I think I may have developed some new phobias because of it too. Cretinphobia comes to mind and moronophobia.

I am not Islamophobic, Buddhismphobic, Hinduismphobic, Jewphobic, Wicanphobic, Druidphobic, Mormonphobic, Scientlogogistphobic, Athiestphobic, Darwinismphobic, Global Warmingismphobic or any other religion phobic you can imagine or invent. I do not accept the beliefs of these religions and will never follow their chosen paths. I do not fear them because none of them can make me do or believe what I do not want to do or believe. What they believe does not offend me one bit. Although with the witting or unwitting aid of Congress and the courts they might try making me accept what they believe, but like them, I was blessed with the free will to choose my way. I do become a little concerned about those who think that I must believe as they do, be subservient to them or by them be dead. It is not a concern that translates into fear. It is one that produces a rational dislike for irrational people and requires that one possess an adequate means of self-defense and preferably the skill to rapid reload and stay on target.

Just because I do not support open military service for homosexuals or homosexual marriage, I am also not homophobic. I do not fear homosexuals. I do not accept their behavior, never will, but I neither fear nor hate them as people. There is in me a rational dislike of their behavior. As long as they do not try to force my acceptance of it as normal nary a peep will they hear from me.

Xenophobia is another phobia tossed around a bit too much these days. It makes the pundits sound sophisticated when they use it, but most of them would have to look it up in a dictionary to know what it means. I would be in trouble if I were xenophobic since the single most important person in my life comes from a country and culture vastly different from mine. We have cultural differences, different customs, different food preferences and language. But, and this is an important but, we believe the same important things. There is only one true God. He gave us our freedom. If you get it, you earned it. If you believe it, defend it. No one owes you anything. Help others when you can. We live in the greatest nation God every allowed to exist. For going on 39 years, our common values have made the bond between us even stronger. We never try to prove that one culture is better than the other. It is like the common bond that once existed between Americans. We came from different national and ethnic origins, but those strongly held and shared American values –God given freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness bound us together with common purpose. Now the stinking communists in Washington want to end that. Sorry, I did not mean to digress to another topic. Now that I think of it, I probably am a little, maybe more than a little, xenophobic if one considers that Washington politicians might represent a distinct culture that is foreign to the remainder of Americans.

I really did not intend a dissertation on phobias, but sometimes I get wound up. I do have a couple of questions for you. What about these pro-abortion people. Are they lifeaphobic or babyphobic? I am just asking. During this time of year there are plenty of people who get their drawers in a bunch about Christmas. During all the other days of the year they exhibit an irrational dislike of Christianity in general. Have you ever heard a member of the media declare them Christophobes or Christianphobic? Me neither.

Have a Merry Christmas unless of course you have a fear or irrational dislike of Christ. If that is true, well, have a Merry Christmas anyway.

Call Now Operator Standing By!

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2: 8-12 (NIV)

I am working hard at staying in the spirit this year. Truthfully though, it has been a struggle just keeping my mind on what is important. I sense it from others too.

This time of the year I like to sit and ponder the past and the good things. Even if I perceive that I had a bad year, I can always find more good things that happened than bad ones. It is odd how that works out, but it always does. Give it a try sometime. In my future and the country’s, the odds tell me that there is more good ahead than bad. The problem is I have a gnawing sensation in my gut telling me that might not be so next year.

Maybe I am spending too much time pondering the problems I see and too little time pondering what is right and good about our country and the lives we are blessed to have. No matter what we see as going awry with our country at present, it is still ours and is still the freest most prosperous nation that God ever allowed to exist. Just flip the switch on the television and you can see turmoil across the world caused by failed socialist experiments. The same problems are heading our way unless we turn back in the right direction and I am not referring to the political right direction.

This time each year, some of us celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and all that means to each of us personally and to our world. Some of us are beholden to other things – mostly material. I am human too and I know that some of my email antagonists may disagree with that self-assessment. As such, there are things out there that I believe I want, but do not need and certainly will never be financially wealthy enough to have, unless I choose to max out a few gold and platinum cards and acquire loans I could never repay. Yep, I can have many things that I will not take with me when I leave this existence whether that expensive GPS has a northerly or southerly route plotted out for me. I do have the security to know that I can always call the 800 let us get rid of all of your debts number and someone will promise to clear my over indulgences – for a small fee of course. And I should call right now for operators are standing by with a special holiday free evaluation of all of my problems.

I have a question for you. Do you know of anyone who is offended when they get a Christmas gift? Me neither. They are not too concerned with what you call it as long as you deliver the loot. Why is it then that people, faceless and nameless most of them, claim to be offended by Christmas trees or a greeting of Merry Christmas? I cannot think of anyone offended by that, but it is so preached to us that we have to be sensitive to other religions and to atheists that political correctness is choking the life out of our nation and the true meaning out of this time.

There is something out there that all of us and our country needs. Not all of us admit to wanting or needing it. It requires no wealth. It will not cost you any money except what you may desire to give away to others. You will have to make that call however and there is no holiday special. This special runs every day 24/7. There is only one operator, but you will never get a busy signal or a pushy sales pitch. The operator is a great listener. He will solve your problems. But, you do have to call and ask for His help.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone, especially to the members of the United States Armed Forces serving on our behalf around world. May God bless you each one.

Merry Christmas Blessed Nation

I thought that it might be a good idea to post something to this blog site before it is seized by the Department of Homeland Security. With the direction our country is headed, there will be no probable cause required to search us (TSA apparently doesn’t need it) or our homes or take away our possessions. I may be left to nailing my thoughts on a tree like our patriot pamphleteer forefathers did. I am sure that the all powerful EPA must have regulations prohibiting that too. Maybe we modern pamphleteers will just resort to stapling them to the foreheads of politicians. Sort of like a poor man’s teleprompter. Penetrating some of those thick heads may require some heavy duty staples.

We have a lot for which to be thankful in the United States of America. All of it points back to one intangible not material thing. Freedom. Not just any old freedom, but that freedom that came to us directly from God and was once protected under the Constitution of our republic. It is the freedom that the men and women who lead us are sworn to protect. Makes one wonder about what the value of a sworn oath is these days. I suppose that it is as binding as is the integrity of the man who swears to it.

It is the freedom to make your choices. It is not the freedom to impose your choices on anyone else. Yet, we see legislation trying to do just that. It is legislation born of a mindset where a minority attempts to impose its will or choices or moral relativism on the rest of us. That minority feels that it knows what is best.

All you have to do these days is declare that you are a Christian and you are promptly attacked for proselytizing. Interesting isn’t it. People who advocate for open homosexual military service, homosexual marriage, abortion on demand, post billboards declaring that Christianity is based on a myth, and who worship the mythology of Charles Darwin, have the audacity to harangue Christians for “wearing it on their sleeves.”

For all of the years that modern nations and Christians have celebrated this time, do you truly believe that people would flock to the stores in droves and spend the billions of dollars that is necessary to keep the world’s economy afloat in celebration of the festival of lights or the winter holiday season? If you do, then I suggest that it may be you who has succumbed to fantasy.

My town has been referred to as the city of churches. There is practically one around every corner. Christian Churches too. Can you imagine all of the misery those pushy Christians cause? Just think of all those feeble minds poisoned with the myth of a virgin birth, death, resurrection and ascension to heaven of our Savior. What is it with this promise of everlasting life? Asking people to believe that there just might be something beyond us and this momentary existence?

As if the year around reminder of Christianity is not bad enough, now they have Christmas displays and invitations to participate in and observe Christmas services like Christmas musicals and Christmas Eve Candlelight services. Then there are the annoying Christmas food basket programs, Christmas clothing drives, Angel trees, bell ringers at every store, and neighborhood Christmas caroling. You can hardly move about without someone wishing you a Merry Christmas with a big smiling face. Give them half a chance and they’ll even toss a God bless you in your direction. Then we have to put up with the decorations people hang all over their houses and place in their yards. Some houses even have Manger scenes including a baby Jesus placed right out there in public for anyone to see. Have they no shame? I tell you, it is the height of insensitivity. Who in the blazes do these people think they are? Can’t they just leave the rest of us alone to our self-indulgence?

This time each year when Christians choose to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, an entity releases all of the nuts from the fruit cake to challenge that truth. In my circle of friends we recognize that as spiritual warfare. For now in the United States of America, we remain free to celebrate the arrival of our Messiah. If it is your choice, you remain free to do otherwise. Just keep it in your tolerant mind that this time is about the virgin birth. Just as other religions have their observances, this is a Christian celebration.

Hopefully, I’ll be more cheerful in coming posts. May ALL of you have a very blessed and Merry Christmas.

Luke 2.
