Twilights last gleaming?

In August of 2008, Rick Santorum made a speech at Ave Maria University. In his speech he declared that Satan has his sights set on the United States of America. His opposition in the race for the presidency obviously dug up that one knowing the liberal media would run with it. The Matt Drudge branch of the Romney campaign made a bold headline of it, establishment republicanism and the liberal media gleefully joined the fray. Santorum was to be painted as too right wing, too fanatical and maybe a bit too Christian.

Ever since Eve picked the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, we have had to choose between one and the other. Too often, it has been the other. In today’s liberal, secular world there is no good or evil, only relativism.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. Romans 7:21 (NIV) (Listen)

In Afghanistan, whose literacy rate among those 15 years and older is 28 percent, most people cannot read and comprehend their Koran nor do they have even a basic understanding of government. They can however, be stirred into a rage by actual fanatics trying to stop their nation’s journey out of the 7th century.

In America, we call similar activity Occupy Wall Street. Our national leadership apologized to the Afghans who killed Americans in yet another fabricated fit of rage. They have also embraced Occupy Wall Street, killing unborn babies, same sex marriage….

12 And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:12-14 (NIV) (Listen)

You cannot apologize to evil nor can you embrace it. When Americans are dying in places where they should be safe, then my riot control agent of choice is napalm. Maybe it is time for us to leave this place so these ingrates can return to control of the Taliban, who likes to publicly execute a few of them at the weekly soccer game where they are not allowed to laugh or cheer.

I suspect that most Americans could draw a line down the center of a piece of paper and title one column good and the other evil or one light and the other darkness and have little difficulty listing today’s so-called controversial issues under the correct title. That means most of us must be as fanatical as is crazy Rick.

Yesterday, I watched the movie Act of Valor. Actual Navy Seals portray themselves in a fictional story built around real acts of valor. In case you are squeamish, this is about as intense as a movie gets and in it there is some rough language. Just keep in mind:

“We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.” – George Orwell

If you are a veteran or a military family member, this movie will get to you. It may return you places you did not want to revisit. If you are not a veteran, this movie is important for you to watch because there has not been one that more vividly portrays for you what our fighting men and women and their families endure. Especially our Special Operations Forces who are the very tip of the spear.

I mention this movie because it is important for Americans to watch, but also because it is a perfect example of a confrontation between good and evil. Evil exists in the darkness. Sometimes it is dressed up as good, as a valid “choice” for one to make. It may be something viewed as not harmful but to those who practice it, but when taken as a whole it destroys nations. In whatever form evil takes, it must be brought into the light. When it is in the light, it cannot survive. In Act of Valor, when the light shined on evil, good destroyed it.

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 (NIV) (Listen)

Rick Santorum was right in 2008. He is more right now. Good versus evil. Light versus darkness. It has been the case from the Garden of Eden, to Isaac and Ishmael and it will be the case all the way to Armageddon. Good and evil cannot coexist. One must prevail. We are living in the twilight. Choose sides wisely.

Turkey or Chicken Nuggets

Life is about choices. Choices have consequences. In November, Americans will choose – again. The question is what? There are distinct choices for us. It is time to cut through the bovine scatology and political correctness to make sure that Americans understand them.

The choice is as simple as turkey or chicken nuggets. Either we regain our constitutionally formed and led Representative Republic or we move from where we are now, communism light, to a full blown one party controlled communist state. Forget about liberals, progressives, conservatives, libertarians or whatever other affiliation you can conceive because none of that matters a whit. The choice that should be A and B on all November ballots is between freedom and communism. Presently, mind numbed Americans chose to begin our fundamental transformation from freedom to communism. If this fight for our future is left to politicians, in other words a fight between the apprentices, Soros’s and Trump’s, Americans will be the loser. Freedom will be the loser.

Communism: A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.

Mr. Trump’s apprentice is too smooth, too nuanced, too suave, too establishment, too country-club…. OK, I will stop before the gag reflex activates. He is too all of those things to even whisper the C word in public lest he be labeled by the communists who once preferred progressive before they preferred liberal who now prefer progressive again of being a McCarthy-ite. Ole’ Joe McCarthy was right by the way. Read Blacklisted by History.

Soviet Communism, the dark tyranny that controlled nearly 40 nations and was responsible for the deaths of an estimated 100 million victims during the 20th century, suddenly collapsed 20 years ago without a shot being fired.

A caring mother prepared a lunch for her kindergarten aged daughter consisting of a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, some potato chips, and apple juice and sent her off to the public indoctrination center formerly known as a school. At the school, a government school lunch inspector (that right there is enough to make you proclaim “a what!”), probably on loan from the Transportation Security Agency, inspected the tyke’s lunch and told her that it would just not do. Instead of eating the unhealthy swill prepared for you by your loving, but ignorant mother the food Gestapo agent insisted, you must eat school cafeteria prepared and likely from a frozen packaged and micro-waved source some wonderful chicken nuggets. Just let that rest on your brain for a minute.

The moral of this story is that in the new communist America, the government knows what is best for children than do their parents. That is also the lesson impressed on a 4 year old mind. Government loves me more than my mommy does. That should make you mad enough to spit nuggets. Later at the indoctrination center, the children will be asked to report their parents who have bad things to say about the government. Much like they did with Hitler youth in Nazi Germany. Adolph Hitler, for those who may have forgotten, saved Germany from the communists. This is another reason for making sure that you know what it is you are choosing. Also, in near communist almost Godless America a mother can choose to kill her unborn children, but she better not feed them turkey sandwiches. Or, maybe it is because the chicken farm was union operated. Geeze, this moral has more twists in it than a barnyard rooster who just lost his nuggets.

Communism is not hard to see. It starts with dear leader, of the wailing in the streets Kim Jong Il type, or in our case pandemic fainting at political rallies type. Dear leader consolidates power around him. In our case, he disregards the Constitution, bypasses Congress and his congressionally approved cabinet with a bevy of communist thinking czars. He is swooned over by a useful idiot media that is better at their craft than the Korean Central News Agency of the Democratic People’s Republic of [North] Korea.

“The KCNA is in charge of uniform delivery of news (my emphasis) and other informations (sic) to mass media of the country, including newspapers and radios.”

The other day, I got the email that made the rounds about how to capture wild pigs. It is a parable of a country falling to the subtlety and patience of creeping communism. Here in our once great and free republic, we understood and despised communism for what it is – Godless, freedom robbing evil. If, after the second Tuesday of the first Monday in November 2012, we do not have control of both houses of Congress and the Whitehouse, the gate will slam shut on freedom in America. Choices have consequences.

Freedom cannot be taken.

It can only be given away.

Have you ever thought about what is at the center of your life? What it is that you are most willing to fight for? What drives your actions every single day? On what does your personal foundation rest? These are personal questions for each individual and shared ones for all who call themselves Americans.

If you have heard this once you have heard it hundreds of times, but it warrants repeating. Nations built on utopian ideals driven by Marxism, socialism, communism, atheism, and otherwise Godless dictatorships fail. While in existence, they provide only misery for their populations and their failures are often spectacular. The cost to the people who give away their freedoms to these man-made schemes is generally measured in death and typically millions of deaths.

Looking around the land of the free, I frankly do not hear a lot of interest in preserving America as the place our forefathers sought out in order to escape religious persecution and a place from which the light of freedom could shine for the rest of the world. In case you have not noticed, that light is flickering a bit. Pray that it does not become a wisp of smoke in the next edition of The Annals of the World.

No. Instead I see people with large megaphones telling me what is at their center. Telling me what is important to them and should therefore be important to me. Telling me to shut up because what I believe is somehow a roadblock to them having what they want. Rarely do I hear them proclaiming that because of what this great nation stands for, or once stood, they are able to have their megaphone to broadcast self-serving messages even if it is at the expense of the whole. Sadly they are driven by ideology and men that if successful will take away what it is they proclaim to want most. Useful idiots.

What defines you? Which voice will be the loudest one that ultimately defines and decides the fate of our country? Is it homosexuality, material wealth, skin color, ethnicity, atheism, abortion, social justice…. These are the voices I hear most each day – all demanding to be recognized for who they are and what they believe. The media likes to call them the defining issues of our day. Distressingly. Do any of these define you? Is one of them the mindset that rests at your center and the one for which you are most willing to fight? Is one of these the corner-stone of your foundation? If so one day you are likely to suffer the fate of nations also built on shaky foundations.

I am no holier than thou. I am a man and like other men I am prone seek out what is important to me first before giving much thought to where that leads. That is our nature. I am working at doing better. Nowadays, it is often more comfortable to actually keep ones mouth shut. Doing so avoids the ire others. Unfortunately, silence is complicit and it only aids the further destruction of what we have that is good – a nation that still shines the light of freedom to a largely not free world. It is too bad that freedom’s light is being replaced with the choice of compact fluorescent light bulbs or is it light tubes?

Our country was founded on God-given freedom. Nothing less. That is our national foundation and we have been giving it away bit by bit for many years. You are allowed to choose what it is that defines you and how you live your life as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others. You are not allowed to demand that I embrace your views or how you choose to live your life. You do not have a right to have anyone support you. How a man chooses to use what he earns is between him and God, not between him and Washington plutocrats. Loving my neighbor does not mean embracing his behavior or life style choices. Yet, without fail, I hear it every day. You Christians need to stop trying to cram your morality down my throat. You evil rich people (I am neither – evil or rich.) need to share the wealth. If you are not clear on how this works, let me explain it for you. Christians do not force anyone to do anything. You come to Christ by your own free will and choice in the same manner that you chose to be an atheist, homosexual or sadly to abort a baby. Otherwise being Christian will not work out for you. Choice cannot be said for some of these other things that rest at the centers of men or for the so-called religion of peace that is given pass in this politically correct country with suicidal ideations.

In our free country my tax dollars are given to Planned Parenthood, (founded by Margaret Sanger the racist proponent of eugenics) our nation’s largest abortion provider to help pay for abortions of unborn children. My religious beliefs do not support abortion and there are no caveats. The baby residing in the womb is the most innocent life. Forcing me to pay for its death has always been an infringement on my first amendment rights. Passing rules insisting that people violate the tenets of their religion also violates the establishment clause of the first amendment, because it is by such action that the state effectively establishes a religion. Sorry, does not work for me. My view is quite simple. Laws of men permit a woman to kill her unborn child. Laws of men should not require me to pay for it. Period.

Right now, in the military, people are afraid for their careers if they express their deeply held religious beliefs concerning homosexuality – even Chaplains. The day will come when Chaplains are required to perform homosexual marriages, not allowed, required. These men and women of faith will have to choose serving the men and women of the Armed Services, something most of them dearly love, or remaining true to their faith. Chaplains who are often asked to provide invocation for functions are asked to not pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Army Chaplains were prohibited by the Army’s Chief of Chaplains from reading a letter to their congregations from the Catholic Archbishop for the Military Services about the administration’s policy that forces Catholic (this should be read as all religions) to cover contraception, sterilizations and the abortion pill in their medical insurance coverage offered to their employees.

All of these things are examples of the government stepping all over our most basic freedom of religion. Maybe you say that it is no skin off your nose. You would be one of those useful idiots. If government, who through activist courts have repeatedly hindered religious freedom, is allowed to continue then no right is safe. No right. Even the corrupt and complicit media now abusing their first amendment rights will lose that. Will they then offer only glowing commentary of dear leader? Sure they will because it will be their only choice.

Choose your foundation wisely.

I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete. –Luke 6:47-49 (NIV)

Searching for truth

It is hard to know what is true. Too often truth simply escapes us or worse yet we accept as truth what is delivered to us by individuals who are motivated to define the truth in their own best interest. When you lack a depth of knowledge on a subject or the ability or desire to search out the truth for yourself, discovering the real truth is nigh to impossible.

In the Muslim countries, such as Afghanistan, the population is largely illiterate. Their truth comes to them from Imams, tribal leaders and corrupt governments who tell them what their chosen god wants them to do. We know how that has turned out for the rest of the world.

In the land of the free, we have a different problem. A large percentage of us profess to be Christians, but we neither practice nor study it. Instead, we let others define it for us. Typically it is a mega church television preacher who tells us that God wants all of us to be wealthy and he will provide wealth if we just ask Him for it. Or we buy the prayer shawl that will bring us miracles if we wear it while praying. Or worse than that, we allow disciples not of God to bring us the truth. In America, we have allowed ourselves to be dumbed-down on Christianity and we are just too busy to seek the truth for ourselves.

I accept that the Bible is the truth. I do not have a perfect understanding of everything I read from it most days. But I do ponder it and I do pray for clarity in understanding the words and applying it to my life and to understanding what is happening around me.

Unless it comes from someone I know and trust I take with precaution any conversation that begins by telling me what the Lord requires of me. I double down on that when it comes from a politician. I grow even more skeptical if the person doing the talking has never demonstrated to me by his walk that he is indeed a follower of Christ. My skepticism increases dramatically when the person implies that I can only fulfill God’s requirements for me if I use him or the government as a middle-man. There is a middle-man between God and us, but He does not reside in Washington.

At the National Prayer Breakfast this past week, the President told us that Jesus’ teaching supports his ideas on progressive taxation.

[at the National Prayer Breakfast] Obama said that as a person who has been “extraordinarily blessed,” he is willing to give up some of the tax breaks he enjoys because doing so makes economic, and religious sense.

“For me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’s teaching that for unto whom much is given, much shall be required,” Obama said, quoting the Gospel of Luke. – Charles Riley, Obama: Jesus would back my tax-the-rich policy, CNNMoney, February 2, 2012

It always bothers me whenever anyone cherry-picks a few words from scripture and uses them to support any argument or point of view, especially when there might be ulterior motives. The partial line of scripture to which the President referred comes from Luke 12:48. To understand it, you must read it in context with the preceding verses.

The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.

“The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. (verse 48)From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded [emphasis mine]; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Luke 12:42-48 (NIV)

I just might be wrong. I know some Bible scholars, that I trust implicitly, who will see this. I am confident they will tell me in rather blunt terms if I am off base. This scripture passage is about fulfilling ones personal responsibility not passing it off to another entity to meet the obligation for you – like government. When you give money to the government, it does not forego your responsibility as a Christian to help those in need. If you have been blessed with much, your responsibility to be wise with it increases accordingly. Just remember that there is no middle-man between you, your personal relationship with God, and fulfilling your responsibilities.

Many people will unquestioningly accept the President’s words and insist along with him that it is indeed Biblically supported that the wealthy must give more of their money to the benevolent government that will then do some good with it. Some who are not Christians will label those who claim to be as hypocrites for their unwillingness to give more money to government to help our nation’s down-trodden (who have flat screen TVs, air conditioned homes and now free cell phones). This passage of scripture should, if anything, put fear in to the government entrusted with the welfare of a free nation, and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. And it would, if the head of that government was a true Christian.

“I wake up each morning and I say a brief prayer, and I spend a little time in scripture and devotion,” he said. Eric Marrapodi, Obama reflects on faith in prayer breakfast speech, CNN Belief Blog, February 2, 2012

This could be a true statement, but one is left to wonder about the source of the scripture.

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. [emphasis mine] In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.” [emphasis mine] – Nicholas Kristof, Obama: Man of the World, New York Times, March 6, 2007

Class warfare, pitting the poor against the wealthy, is not about fulfilling any Christian Biblical principle or meeting ones Christian obligations.

Our education system has accomplished the same for our general understanding of our nation’s history and form of government as has the bombardment of worldly views veiled as Christianity. We have children leaving our high schools who lack the most basic understanding of our Christian heritage, our history or our constitutionally guided representative republic form of government. In many cases, they have been taught about the sins of America, but rarely about her good. They lack a basic understanding of our economic system, the concepts of individual liberty, God given rights and the constitutionally imposed limitations on our government. They enter our liberal institutions of “higher” learning as empty vessels. There they learn about the evils of economic freedom and the virtues of communism, Marxism and socialism. God and Christian concepts not allowed or are talked about as mythology along with the “truth” of Darwinism. Our children are not being taught American Exceptionalism. They are not told the heights at which this eagle has and could conceivably soar. Instead, they are taught about the evils and that the eagle and her wealthy have soared too high and both must be brought down to the level where all men and all nations are equal. With their indoctrination completed, these previously empty vessels now filled are ready to vote for the message delivered to them that most closely coincides with the message of their indoctrination – another concept of fascism, communism… but most certainly not a concept embraced by a free republic. We have traveled far down that road.

My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” – Charles Hurt, OBAMA FIRES A ‘ROBIN HOOD’ WARNING SHOT, New York Post, October 15, 2008

“In the most advanced countries the following will be pretty generally applicable: a heavy progressive or graduated income tax.” Karl Marx, Communist Manifesto

“Labor is the source of wealth and all culture, and since useful labor is possible only in society and through society, the proceeds of labor belong undiminished with equal right to all members of society.” Karl Marx – Critique of the Gotha Program

He when do we in America believe that our society is made up of two diametrically opposed classes—one rich, one poor—both in a permanent state of conflict and neither able to get ahead except at the expense of the other? – Ronald Reagan, quoted by Mark R. Levin, Liberty and Tyranny, Page 197.

The Gipper drew a clear distinction for us between Marxist thought and the American idea of economic freedom.

Karl Marx was the Communist father of Marxism. Our President’s ideas on taxation and class warfare (spreading the wealth around) are rooted in the Communist Manifesto, not the Holy Bible. Unfortunately, too many Americans know too little about the contents of either to fully understand that.

God save us.
