American Journal March 24, 2013 10 simple rules

God gave us 10 commandments. Ten simple rules for life. I am grateful the he did not first run them through the United States Congress or seek blessing from the Supreme Court of the United States. The United States Constitution is not much larger than the two stone tablets Moses brought down from Mount Sinai. Both rather simple documents to read. Unless you are a New York high school student. In that case, ask Papa Bloomberg to read them to you. Maybe he could put them in a rap tune. Congress has produced millions and millions of pages of law trying to either decipher or re-define for us what is in the Constitution and the 10 Commandments for that matter. These volumes of laws, if ever challenged, are then scrutinized by the ideological and fallible men and women of the Supreme Court – an august intellectual body presiding over the land beneath an image of Moses holding the 10 commandments.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” – Mathew 22: 37-40 (NIV)

With the help of the Supreme Court, a nation whose motto is In God We Trust has abandoned the first and greatest commandment. Individual Americans may have not, but the nation has as an extension of the men and women we sent to Babylon West to rule us rather than serve us. By our actions, we created the environment in which we live. We own what we tolerate including the accumulated guilt of a willful follower.

Where have we allowed Washington’s political ruling class to take our nation on its journey to Godlessness?

God did tell us to love our neighbor as our self. That does not mean that we must accept as good our neighbor’s immorality or other poor behavior. Even when the laws of man demand it from us. It means that we must want for our neighbor the same good things we want for ourselves and if our neighbor is in need we offer help. We do not help by first pointing him toward the nearest government office.

God decided when life begins and he told us not to murder. The Supreme Court nullified both and called it a choice.

God told us not to lie and steal. So we send men and women to Washington who happily does that on our behalf. Not only is Washington stealing from you and I, they are stealing from generations not yet born. We are allowing it to happen to our innocent grand children.

God told us not to covet our neighbor’s property. Some of us cheer when politicians demand a “fair share” from someone who through work has accumulated wealth. By our actions are we not showing desire for our neighbor’s property? Are we not guilty if we encourage and allow government to commit covetous acts on our behalf?

God defined marriage. The body of mortals we call the Supreme Court is not supreme enough to get a vote on that one – regardless of what incomprehensible thoughts John Roberts and his court might foist upon us this time.

Laws are not written for moral and law abiding people yet it is they who suffer the resultant loss of freedom. Our founders warned us that our Constitution will only work for a moral and religious people. It does not matter the piles of paper laws produced nor the proclamations made. The criminal at heart is not paying attention unless your print it on a piece of dimension lumber and hit him on the forehead with it.

God warned us that if we turn away from Him, he will turn us over to our sinful desires and self-destruction. We are certainly on that expressway. Out of control and traveling at breakneck speed. The Russians and Chinese are cheerfully lining up to clear away the wreckage. They have practice filling Godless voids – and mass graves.

Easter is the most important time for Christians. It is the day of the resurrection. It is a time of renewal and re-birth. May it also be a time for the resurrection of America?

The Arabs had a spring that destroyed any vestige of freedom in their lands. Unless you think Sharia is free. Our government and their compliant media declared it a good thing. I measure it right up there with Jimmy Carter’s freeing the people of Iran. A nation that now has us on the verge of world war.

We need an American spring. A re-founding. A return to what made us a great nation. We need to return to God. Return to our founding roots. Even if we have to drag Babylon West along for the ride kicking and screaming.
