American Journal May 25, 2013 Memorial Day

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.” — General George S. Patton Jr.

Take this time to explain to your children the significance of this day dedicated to the Americans who died in our nation’s wars so that all Americans might remain free. May God bless their souls.

Our God and soldiers we alike adore,
Ev’n at the brink of danger; not before;
After deliverance, both alike requited,
Our God’s forgotten, and our soldiers slighted. – Frances Quarles, 1632

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

In Flanders Fields

Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, 1872-1918

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies blow
In Flanders fields.

American Journal May 18, 2013 Fascism, liars, traitors

The President is outraged over the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) scandal, which is only one of the triad. When he directed some presumed anger at the problem he amazingly just found out about, Congress dutifully welled up with anger. Tax mooch Democrat Charlie Rangel was beside himself. Republicans tried to out-anger the vocal Democrats. Probably some great future campaign footage shot during the hearings. After all, is that not what most things in Washington are about these days? Who will this help or hurt politically? Who cares about America? This is all about me and my stature in the party.

In lockstep with our progressive government and Congress, the progressive and sycophantic news media fell in line and became similarly outraged.

Just as they decided which war was worth fighting and which was not, this collection of people decided for all Americans which scandal most needed attention. Attention from the people who brought it to us in the first place.

Benghazi, having barely made it to the front part of the news, quickly dropped below the fold or disappeared altogether. Relegated back to citizen Internet blogs – America’s only hope for truthful journalism.

If this was a made for television movie, I would have long ago switched channels. Maybe to the food channel. If something is going to give me terminal indigestion it should at least be palatable. The unbelievable story line? A scandal was about to break open so horrible that most Americans if knowing the whole truth would not only demand resignations of many, they would also demand lengthy prison terms or worse. Just in the nick of time, a planted question brings about an unsolicited apology for the fascist operation that the IRS has become. The President shares his outrage with the nation, directing us toward the real scandal we should be concerned with – the one that can be easily laid at the feet of “rogue” underlings. Underlings, who will admit guilt, resign apologetically with full government pensions and never be heard from again. All designed to distract from the scandal tied directly to the Whitehouse – the one where Americans died – the one they want us to forget about. The one where there is growing evidence of a gun running operation. Was it an operation supplying weapons through Libya to the Syrian “rebels” who are looking remarkably like Muslim Brotherhood affiliates and Al-Qaida terrorists?

The question that some nether want asked or answered? Was what happened in Benghazi a battle for control of the weapons provided by agents of our government? That possibility is not too hard to believe considering that we own the Arab spring movement that did as many warned usher in Muslim Brotherhood control. We are providing advanced fighter aircraft and the world’s most advanced main battle tank to them now. These are weapons that will ultimately be turned toward Israel and Americans.

But there is another twist to the story line that will make it much more interesting. It is truth that evil cannot exist in the light, which is why my daily prayers include a request that God’s light of truth shine brightly across our land. While the light is momentarily dimmed over Benghazi, it is shining brightly on the fascist tactics used by arguably our most powerful government agency in that it can destroy at will most any American or entity and under current leadership stands ready to do that to promote a political ideology. With that, consider the telephone records of AP journalists taken by the most political and corrupt Department of Justice in history.

At its core, these two scandals point directly to elements of the government using the power of government to destroy political opposition and attack free speech and the free press. The Benghazi scandal, when back in the light, will show a government willing to arm the people who attacked us and still want to destroy us – all to advance a failed political ideology and who are spurred on by the members of the Muslim Brotherhood working at the highest levels of our government. Traitorous.

The good end to this story? The light of truth is shining brightly on the dangers of placing big government in the hands of people who are willing to use it as the weapon of choice to destroy our country and its freedom. The first step toward healing? Resignations and long prison terms. The second step? Repeal of the 16th Amendment to the US Constitution, abolish the IRS and implement a simple flat tax rate for all Americans to pay. After that, we can abolish the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, Department of Education…..

American Journal May 12 2013 Dereliction of Duty Abuse of Power

Dereliction of duty.

What greater duty does a President have than the protection of American citizens? Most especially those performing the government’s work in a foreign land.

To neglect that most important duty and then blatantly lie about it to the American people is disgraceful. I do not know how any American serving in danger can feel confident that government leadership will be there when most needed. Lying politicians are not a new phenomenon. Bold liars however, can only be so when they believe they will never be found out.

They become bold liars when they believe the big media voices will sing from whatever sheet music they are provided. Sadly, most have. But there seems to be a tiny hole in that dyke. Random acts of journalism are turning up in places other than Fox news, citizen blogs and talk radio. Either they will successfully lie their way out of Benghazi or that dyke is going to break. When it breaks, Watergate will no longer be the reference point for government scandals and cover-ups. Covering up burglary or covering up murder? You decide. People will go to prison.

Much of the American media is scurrilous at best and only supporting of whatever agenda fits its ideology. Such people lack character. They lack honor. When the going gets ugly, they are loyal only to self. They will rather quickly abandon the sinking ship of state rather than help plug the leaks. They will quickly join the circling sharks for a feeding frenzy. As the administration sacrificially tosses people overboard, they media will gleefully rip them into shreds. Hope you have a life vest Hillary. Those in the crippled vessel hope the sacrifices will satisfy the hunger. They will not. The perseverance of the dying media will have nothing to do with getting to the ugly truth. It will be about trying to regain some measure of credibility with the American people. This is what the administration fears most. Otherwise, why would the most transparent administration ever hold a closed, off the record meeting with “news” reporters?

There are people out there who can put this whole business to rest, but they need to do an honor check. Calling General (Retired) David Petraues. It is your legacy General. It can be one of courage and doing the right thing or it can be one of self-preservation. History will tell the truth later or you can do it now.

There is something else the media is not talking about – yet. The coming battle royal between the Clinton machine and the Obama machine. Get the popcorn. This one is going to be a doozie sports fans.

Abuse of power.

Remember the days of the Patriot Act? All of the apologists were out there asking, “If you don’t have anything to hide, what’s your problem?”

Abuse of power. That is the problem.

How about the Internal Revenue Service going after conservative organizations. Singling them out for scrutiny. Do you really believe that it was “low level” IRS employees that took it upon themselves to do that? If so, you are pretty doggoned gullible. In this case, we can eliminate any abuse of power. We can change the tax code to a flat rate for everyone and close the IRS. Dear Congress, please do not let this crisis go to waste.

When I think about abuse of power nowadays, a lot comes to mind that is downright frightening. What about drones? They are already flying about. When you turn on your GPS, the satellite does such a swell job of pinpointing where you are that the speed limits change right where the sign posts sit. Do you think the government does not have the ability to use that technology to pinpoint you for the drone that might fire a hell fire missile up your tail pipe? They can do that with your cell phone too. Hmmm? Makes you ponder the simpler life does it not? Think about all of the cameras watching your every move. Your phone calls being recorded. The family tree and lists of “friends” you built on Facebook. Your emails being captured because in one of them you dropped one of those words…..

All of you big government fans need to think clearly about the powers given to government. Times have proven that the people exercising those powers are not always scrupulous nor do they always have America’s best interest at heart.

American Journal May 5, 2013 Forty years ago

My sweetheart and I had relatively similar starts in life. Hers began in a rural South Korean farming village where at the time both drivable roads and electricity were in short supply. Mine started in a West Virginia coal mining camp. Yesterday, we celebrated forty years of marriage. Our friends sent us a card pointing out the many changes that have taken place over forty years. Cell phones, Internet, cable television, etc… Improvements? I often wonder. Still, the card caused me to ponder.

Forty years ago, Jimmy Carter declared that we must become energy independent.

Forty years ago, the Vietnam War was winding down leaving our nation a generation of practically forgotten and unappreciated heroes. The Vietnam War was lost first in the marbled hallways and paneled offices of Washington, DC. While war is but an extension of national politics, politicians demonstrated for Americans and also our enemies that they are not very good at war fighting. Political polling is not a good battlefield strategy. Ironic, is it not, that again in our history inept politicians are unnecessarily putting a generation of our young men and women through hell because they try to extrapolate party politics and ideology to battlefields half way around the world?

Vietnam was also lost in the streets and on college campuses across the nation. Draft dodgers were still taking refuge in Canada, only later to be granted amnesty by President Carter along with upgraded discharges for deserters one of whom almost became our President. Another draft dodger who famously stated that he loved his country, but loathed the military pretended to be in ROTC just long enough to get deferred. He became our President. His less than impeccable character always on display.

Young and liberal kids, two things that invariably go together until life’s realities smack them in the face, were led down the path of protest by wealthy, spoiled brats who never in their protected lives had to face a scintilla of hardship. Never had to provide for themselves or lift a tool in labor. The most famous of them is Jane Fonda. She once told University of Michigan Students, “If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become Communist.” Since communism is atheistic, I wondered to whom Jane suggests that we fall on our knees and pray. Just further proof that when everything in life is handed to you and you are surrounded with sycophants seeing to your every need somehow inside your feeble mind you believe that communist utopia will provide the same for everyone.

There was also the future Secretary of State John Kerry. Aided by the likes of liberal politician Ted Kennedy, he and his phonies lied to America about the conduct of our Soldiers in Vietnam. The same tripe he continued when he proclaimed that American Soldiers were terrorizing Iraqi women and children in their homes.

There were other Vietnam protest elements of the time. The Weather Underground, a self-described communist revolutionary organization, for example. Certainly, by now you know of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. They are terrorists. Ayers likes having his picture taken standing on the American flag. He bombed police stations, the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon. He enjoys freedom in America. In his living room began the political career of the current President of the Unites States of America. Ayers has and continues to influence education in our country, recently declaring in a speech to college students that America is over.

It was during Vietnam, when the American media discovered their enormous power to sway public opinion by what was reported and what was not. The American media, in those days there was no alternative, so misreported the war that one of their icons Walter Cronkite declared to America that the war was lost during his reporting on the Tet Offensive of 1968. Just for the record, America’s Soldiers never lost a battle in Vietnam and Tet was a devastating defeat for the North. Sadly, Americans believed what was reported by the “most trusted name in news” and his colleagues. Today’s so-called mainstream media learned from their elders and are now little more than communist ideologues – useful idiots. Someday, Americans will hold them accountable for the damage done to our country through their abuse of one of our most important freedoms – a free press.

Those people of the 60s and 70s are running our country these days. Nary a Washington politician and most assuredly not the news media will call them what they are – communists. For a Washington politician, the most feared label after racist is McCarthy-ite. The media belongs to the communists. Spineless politicians cower to it. Are made or broken by it.

Our country is led by men and women who are communist in their ideology. Their few vocal political challengers are marginalized by the most watched and read media sources. Their misdeeds that cost American lives are covered up and never fully reported. Since the communist minded have formed an unholy alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood, we are at war with an enemy that we cannot speak of. America’s – and freedom’s – real enemy is that unholy alliance. It is focused on one thing. It is the same goal as had the pot heads, communist collaborators and terrorist bombers from forty years ago – the destruction of America.

I pray that history will show that this is the time when Americans declared enough!
