American Journal September 8 2013 Progressive War Hawks

In June 2006, I wrote about the Axis of Idiots. It seems now that the axis has turned from war critics into war hawks. Yes, quite a political turn around. A greater illustration of Washington insanity cannot be found.

America’s modern political approach to war has not resulted in total victory since the end of World War II. It is because war, the new American way, has little to do with war fighting and much to do with politics. The outrage in all of this is that Washington politicians of all breeds willingly send America’s sons and daughters off to fight and die for what is always billed as defending freedom or people seeking freedom. That was mostly true in Korea. That or at least to halt the expansion of communism, or however it is you care to describe the government of Red China’s North Korean puppet state. It may have also been true at the outset of Vietnam, a focus quickly lost to Washington politics. In both cases, we lost because we settled for less than total victory. Maybe it was because we had muddled objectives that did not involve destroying the enemy’s will to continue the fight. We [the American people] allowed ourselves to be pulled into the Middle Eastern Wars with the same mindset. We were spreading freedom. Too many Americans have died. Did they die defending freedom? Or was it for wrongheaded political agendas? Questions most Americans would rather not answer. It is called denial.

Presidential Candidate Barack Obama said our troops were “[in Afghanistan] just air raiding villages and killing civilians”, and that “[in Iraq] We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged and to which we have now spent $400 billion and has seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.” He has not had much to say about that since he took charge of the wars, except to leave Iraq to Iran and inter-tribal warfare and our Soldiers in Afghanistan to operate under rules of engagement equivalent to fratricide. His foreign policy that believes in “moderate” Islam, much like his predecessor Jimmy Carter and too many others did and still do, has set the Middle East a blaze. The progressives have fulfilled their prophesy of turning the Middle Eastern wars into just another Vietnam quagmire where America only comes out the loser and where many of the Soldiers lost or maimed were barely 10 years old when the conflicts started. The parallels are eerie and sickening.

Now, led by Genghis John Kerry, the war hawk, we are about to engage Syria – or someone or something in Syria. This is the same communist sympathizer who chucked fake medals over the Whitehouse fence and called his comrades in arms murderers at a Ted Kennedy sponsored Congressional charade. Genghis John has not changed much in what he thinks about today’s warriors: “And there is no reason… that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the – of – the historical customs, religious customs.” And his perspective on the quality of our Soldiers, “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Now these great American and military loving patriots want to take us once more to war. But we are not talking about actual war here, or so they want us to believe. But we must once again punish an evil dictator who allegedly gassed his own people. Maybe so, maybe not. The evidence is not in, but these same great warriors wanted no part of dealing with the Butcher of Iraq who gassed many thousands during the Iran –Iraq war and thousands of Kurds in his own country. In fact, they called it Bush’s illegal war. Like Vietnam, it was a war that Genghis John was for before he was against it.

There will be no boots on the ground, we are promised. Just a million dollar missile here and there. We will punish Assad like he was an Aspirin factory in Sudan. You probably believe that if you have an Obama phone. There will be boots on the ground, maybe not overtly, but they will be there just as they were in Libya. Once we take out Assad, and that is the objective regardless of what you hear, what becomes of the chemical weapons? How do we secure them? Boots on the ground is the only way to do that. If the objective is to stop the use of chemical weapons, then the objective must be to capture and destroy the chemical weapons. Otherwise, the objective must be to tip the balance of power in favor of one side or the other most likely putting radical Islam in charge of Syria adding it to the axis of Islamic powers of Turkey and Iran that will challenge Egypt, Saudi Arabia and others for control of the Islamic caliphate. While Russia and China side with the eventual winner. We will then have chosen sides for the next World War all thanks to the foreign policy of our President.

Senator Harry Reid, who said this about Iraq, “I believe myself that the secretary of state, secretary of defense and — you have to make your own decisions as to what the president knows — (know) this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything…”, assured us that an attack on Syria will win approval in the Senate.

Congress. Progressives are wagging your dog. Mr. President. Not one more American life to defend Islam. Not a single one.

  1. The Axis of Idiots has been replaced by The Three Stooges of American Foreign Policy with John Kerry the lead, disfigured, elephant-man looking spokesman with the confused Chuck Hagel. And later this week, Obama, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, will press hard to get America involved in another Middle East mess.

And yet no one is asking how Syria ended up with all these chemical weapons in the first place. It’s not like they were driven across the desert sometime in March 2003, right…?

This is truly a case where the inmates are running the asylum when it comes to the occupant & his co-horts in the White House. We can only pray Congress rejects this foolish behavior and reckless endeavor.
