God, Family, Country 2

Maybe we have become desensitized to scheming politicians.  It is part of our national psyche.  Jokes about politicians suddenly generate little reaction other than perhaps some nervous laughter.  We accept that politicians promise, but rarely deliver.  Maybe that is why fewer than half of us bother to vote.  That alone is the saddest of facts.  When politicians stopped representing the people who elected them in deference to the people who bought them, we ceased being a representative republic.  These days it seems every politician is talking about democracy.  Even the communists talked of democracy to soothe the fears of the populace.  It was an often ill informed populace.  Pure democracy is something we never had.  Our founders wisely preferred a representative republic to mob rule and as Mr. Franklin warned, “if you can keep it… .”

Previously I stated where I believe our country will end if we continue down the road we are traveling.  I was called a Chicken Little, mister gloom and doom.  We have been in worse places I am told and survived.  Yes, we have been in worse places.  As a people we fought our way out of those difficult places.  But never have we had an entity deep inside of our country and government so corrupt that it is willing to destroy any remnant of our republic and the democracy promised to the ignorant.  This is an entity willing to destroy all that allowed them to achieve status and wealth in the first place just in order that they may secure more wealth and power rendering our nation to just another piece of the globalist serfdom.  A serfdom where acquiring wealth is out of reach for most.

When I complete a mental recon of any situation, I worst case it.  It is part of critical thinking.  In critical thinking you work backwards from worst case to present.  It helps you know the way you must go.  By necessity, you map out the route to where you need to go while blocking avenues leading to the worst case destination.  I asked if you have ever pondered how we arrived at this place teetering on the verge of national suicide.  Someone called me an expletive moron for having the audacity to even raise such a silly question.  Of course we have pondered it!

To destroy a people or country or anything for that matter you must severely weaken its foundation.  Experience tells me there will be much disagreement about what I consider the foundation of the United States of America and it will come from multiple directions and often arrive in profane declarations.  Some will agree, some will disparage, and some will build a straw man around a single phrase and beat senseless the straw man without ever critically pondering the question.  This is a benefit likely derived from headline reading and solving the world’s problems in a 144 characters with a hash tag and the anonymity of the cyber world.  For the time being, this is still the United States of America and as citizens freedom is our birthright.  With freedom comes the right to speak freely about what one believes.  If you exercise your right by engaging in attacks and name calling, no one much cares what else you have to say beyond that.

God is the bedrock of our foundation.  Atheists and others tell us God is not needed to help distinguish right from wrong or what is moral from immoral.  Somehow they just know right from wrong and are adamant that there exists no higher moral authority than themselves and the greater humanistic tradition.  From the earliest days of life, if honest about it, we naturally knew right from wrong.

Without the moral authority that comes from God and that is integral to the Judeo-Christian values on which this nation was founded, humanity is inherently evil.  One does not have to search very far into history to learn of the evil perpetuated upon the world and people by Godless nations.  To that, millions of graves offer testimony.  I have also listened to the views of Christian bigots who spew streams of profanity and attack with accusations of proselytizing even at the mere mention of God.  Is not “proselytizing”, in most cases stated as a pejorative, just advocating – offering one point of view rather than another – in this instance, the merits of Judeo-Christian values rather than the alternative?  And does not the alternative adamantly “proselytize” for their views – even to the point of coercing or trying to destroy those who do not accept their way?  Our founders were clear in their views of the importance of morality and religion in the governed and government.  A religious and moral people are a lawful people.  It is a citizenry that upholds and follows the laws of the land as bound by their Christian faith.

The Judeo-Christian underpinning of our nation is well established in historical documents.  For decades, there has been a concerted effort to remove God from our country – to remove the bedrock of our nation and culture – to remove The higher moral authority.  As studies have shown, the numbers of Americans who claim they are Christian is in steady decline.  We are losing the battle.  God is always with us, but he gives us the free will to choose our own path.  He will also stand aside and allow us to pursue destruction if that is the way we choose.

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.   – From Romans 1 (NIV)

Family is the basic social institution of our foundation.  I remember Sociology 101 circa 1971.  The discussion of the day surrounded the future of the nuclear family.  The accepted definition of traditional nuclear family was a father, mother and children.  It was the primary source of socialization for children and the most basic building block for society.  Today’s definition expands to a pair of adults and their children or a single parent and children or pretty much however you choose to define family as a unit consisting of adults and children.  The basic socialization of a child takes place in the family including basic social ideas, attitudes, values, and religious and moral training.

When we backed away from a moral authority, redefining human kind’s oldest social institutions, family and marriage, became easy.

Not only have we re-defined family, but our War on Poverty welfare among other things has created more single mother households.  It is these families that are most likely to remain in poverty, most likely to be poorly educated, and most likely to become involved in unacceptable social activities.  That is just another sad fact considering the high percentage of children born out of wedlock, as high as 70 percent in some groups.  In many of these single parent homes, children simply do not receive the primary social skills that are integral to all Western society.

We are losing the war on the family.  The destruction of the traditional nuclear family means the destruction of our social foundation.

Identity as a Country is our foundation.  With the loss of a moral authority and the systematic destruction of the family, keeping our identity as a country is our last line of defense. In recent years, we have lost much ground in that war.  What defines a country?  Borders, culture, and language.  There is an all out assault on all three and if we continue in the same direction, we will cease to exist as a country.  Globalist progressive politicians refuse to enforce border security and immigration laws.  They will not declare English as the country’s official language. People stand on our flag, raise the flags of other countries or groups above the American flag and second string athletes refuse to stand for our national anthem.  Most egregious is the images we see of elected government “servants” that we pay who swore oaths to support and defend the Constitution, sitting on their asses looking at their telephones rather than standing hand over heart and pledging allegiance to our country.  Yes, we are in great shape.

We are losing the war on all fronts.  We can only hope to win if we re-fortify our foundation.  That requires similarly focused leadership and an informed citizenry.

God, Family, Country

I have tried to withdraw from the politics that are sucking the life from America.  Yes CG, I truly have.  Sideline sitting is difficult and leaving unsaid what needs to be said is even more trying.  When you catch a glimpse of what Americans are hearing every day, it is disheartening and distasteful.  Even when turning to the local news you are bombarded with the “national” segment extolling the virtues of one and the evilness of the other.  But mostly the evilness of the other.  Unfounded or not.  This is certainly not an election where the candidates are appealing to the intellectual side of the electorate.  Nor is it one where the media reports and compares policy positions.  Maybe it is time we had a fight at this level so America can take a deeper look into her mirror.  Maybe learn about our true deep divide.  The real one that exists not between colors of Americans but between the political and media elitists and the everyman.  It is the makings of a “French Revolution.”  Pray it never comes to that.

Thinking through the self-inflicted political and cultural mess in which we find ourselves and writing about it is therapeutic.  So allow me this indulgence.

Freedom once was, along with the quixotic “truth, justice and the American way”, the heartbeat of our country, but now it is politics.  The absence of truth and justice is the new American way.  Everything is politicized and idealized. There is no place to where one might retreat to escape it.  Withdrawal into a cocoon is an option – a self-imposed safe zone.  But, tuning out our shared reality so as to calm our troubled souls and shield our feelings is dereliction of our civic duty.

In our country, a war is on.  It is political, ideological and cultural.  It is a battle of Biblical proportions being fought for the soul of a nation and for the souls of her people.  One world globalist vultures are aligned to pick clean the American carcass and consolidate her wealth amongst them.   Open the borders and the millions who rush into the Promised Land will find naught but misery and slavery to their new global masters.  Their hope ending right back in the ghettos, slums, poverty, and crime that drove them away from their lands to begin with.  They will find the hope they placed in fallible utopians offering grandiose promises has also departed.   Promises they held no intention of fulfilling. Could not possibly fulfill.  Utopia is not for the masses.  It is only for those shielded by wealth and power from the daily difficulties of the everyman – no matter where he resides.  Geographically, there will be an America, but the shining beacon of freedom to the unfree world will be gone however, replaced by darkness.  In the darkness, evil thrives.  With the promised fundamental transformation completed, gone will be the uniquely American ideal of individual liberty and freedom first Exceptionalism – likely never to know a peaceful rebirth.  Shockingly, some likely view that as success.  After all, have we not been told that America is no more exceptional than any other nation?

These days, ideology preempts facts.  Honest debate is stifled by mockery, name calling, gutter crawling and character assassination.  Movements are built on falsehood, towns are burned, people are dead, police officers are vilified, attacked and murdered, the military is gutted and slighted, and the everyman is left standing without much hope amidst all of that and run down and dilapidated cities that were once great manufacturing centers and the envy of the world.

The people charged as the guardians of one of our most precious and important freedoms – speech and the press – have forfeited that freedom by selling their souls to political ideology and totally abandoning any semblance of objective journalism or news reporting.  It is an ideology wholly antithetical to the principles on which our nation was founded.  Along with corrupt politicians and their donors they are steering the rest of us toward destruction while not realizing that it is also their end toward which they are speeding.  The type of ruling government their ideology perpetuates cannot withstand a free press.

Our children, the future, are ignorant of our history.  Worse than that, they have been conditioned to believe that Western civilization and specifically America is to the blame for the world’s problems.  More dangerous is their ignorance of the darkness of communism and socialism and the aims of Sharia even when displayed right before their eyes.  This is the great failure of our education system, or the great success depending on your worldview.  It may as well have been free for what it was worth.

Common decency and respect were thrown out the window long ago.  The golden rule?  Pull anyone with an opposing view down into the gutter and make it about that.  The people?  They remain largely ignorant of things important because they are too focused on media created soap operas and massive misinformation.  It is a media that prefers to be owned rather than remain truthful, free and independent.  With a corrupt media, corrupt Congress, corrupt administrative agencies and a corrupt Department of Justice including the full gamut of federal investigative agencies what possible chance is there for fairness for the everyman? Nil.  Despots observing from around the world must marvel at how easy it was to corrupt the most perfect representative republic on the face of the earth and then turn it on the people that it was supposed to serve and protect.
