"Illusions"
Michael Lucas
I saw you this morning,
Saw you standing beside my bed
I thought I heard you say you loved me
I thought I saw you lean over to kiss me
Then I realized, it was an illusion
I was walking down the street today
And I saw you pass
I thought I saw you wink at me
I though I saw you smile at me
Then I realized, it was an illusion
I made it from the office to home without you crossing my mind
I walked through my door and there you were
I thought I saw you look at me
I thought I saw you standing there
Then I realized, it was an illusion
Finally I told myself I couldn't live like this anymore
I have to put you to rest
I walked to the cemetery and found your stone
I sat and stared for a long time
I sat there thinking, thinking about what we had
Then I thought I heard your voice
Thought I would turn around and see you standing there
Hoping you would tell me it's alright
Tell me everything is ok
That you're doing fine
Then I started thinking about how you're gone
That you're not coming back
That I will never hold you again
Then I realized
That's no illusion
